The Colombian mezzo-soprano studied singing at the Mannheim University of Music with Prof. Stefanie Krahnenfeld and completed a master's degree in concert singing at the Zurich University of the Arts with Prof. Scot Weir. She attended other master classes with Monika Pick-Hieronimi, Mery Plazas and Barbara Bonney. She gained her first stage experience in Mannheim and Zurich as Cherubino (“Le Nozze di Fiagro”), Orlofsky (“Die Fledermaus”) and Rosina (“Il barbiere di Siviglia”). In June 2017 she performed as a stewardess (opera "Flight" by Jonathan Dove) under the musical direction of Andrew Dunscombe and the direction of Christian Kipper in the theaters Stadttheater Sursee, Kurtheater Baden and Scala Basel in Switzerland.



In addition to her work as an opera singer, she has given concerts both in Germany and abroad. Lorena Madrid took over the alto solo of Beethoven's 9th symphony accompanied by the Budweis Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Schmid (Czech Republic 02.2016), as well as the alto solo of the Bach cantatas "Ein ungefärbt Gemüte" and "Ach Gott, vom Himmel sieh darein”under the direction of Andrés Heredia and Jonas Gassmann (Zurich 2016). In November 2016 they went to China and Japan with concerts with a classical program and traditional folk music of the world. Lorena Madrid attaches great importance to chamber music. In 2017 she sang “Gefallene Blüten” (songs for alto and large ensemble) by Hans-Henning Ginzel under his direction at the premiere of the piece on the occasion of the 30-year partnership between the Free State of Bavaria and Shandong (PR China). The singer's repertoire still includes the Great Mass in C minor (soprano II) by WA Mozart, the Stabat Mater (soprano II) by Gioachino Rossini, the Christmas Oratorio (alto), the St. Matthew Passion (alto) and the B minor Mass (Soprano II) by JS Bach.


Since the 2018/19 season she has been a member of the "Opernwerkstatt am Rhein" ensemble. There she embodies the role of Mercedes from the opera "Carmen" by Georges Bizet as well as the role of the ice witch from Peter Tchaikovsky`s work "The Snow Girl" (musical direction by Marco Sanna and Yuhao Guo and direction by Irina Miller), among others.
